Simple Soup

Prep Time: A night + 15 minutes
Cook Time:
2+ hours
Serves:
407
Difficulty:
π
Recommended Sides:
Cornbread, cold weather, warm blankets, Leinenkugel, and the Sandlot.

Ingredients:
15 bean soup package
1 LB side of pork
2 Chicken bullion (with 2 cups of water)
2 Stalks Celery
1 Onion
2 Tomatoes
4 Cloves garlic
4 Green onions
Salt and Pepper
1 TSP Rosemary
1 TSP Adoba seasoning
1 TSP Red Pepper flakes
A bit of olive oil

Step 1: Over Night It
Take your beans out of the package, wash, and cover with water. Drown them for their insubordination over night so they get all squishy. Rinse them off in the morning and you’re good to go. Set aside.

Step 2: BACON?!
Not quite bacon, but still awesome. Chop up the meat, celery, onion, and green onion, then toss into your biggest pot with some oil. Turn it on medium and cook for about 5-10 minutes until the meat is tender. Next, throw in the chopped garlic for a bit, then add the beans, bullion (with 2 cups water), and chopped tomatoes. The water should be an inch or two over the beans. Add all the spices, stir and bring to a boil for 5 minutes.

Step 3: The Wait…
After the 5 minute boil reduce to a simmer for at least 2 hours. Stir about every thirty minutes and add salt, pepper, or chili powder as needed. By the end, everything should get all squishy and delicious. You can cook this longer to get it even more delicious, but I wouldn’t go over 3-4 hours. This is an awesome winter recipe, as the soup has cold weather protection. Also it will feed your entire family/friend circle. Also it cures many diseases, including heart ache, seasonal depression, and head pigeons. Enjoy!
